Find the Answers to All Your Custom Pool Questions

We know that building your dream pool comes with a lot of questions. Whether you’re curious about the process, warranties, or what to expect, we’ve got you covered. Take a look through our FAQs for answers to some of the most common questions we get. And if there’s anything else on your mind, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re always happy to chat!

These days, play pools are the most popular types of pools. We can still construct diving pools, but they are generally more expensive, and most follow several guidelines for safety reasons.

For those who are interested in a diving pool, there are now many options beyond an actual diving board, including jump boards and diving rocks built into the surrounding landscape or a waterfall.

There are several ways to add shade around your pool, including:

  • Smart Pool Placement: The most economical solution is to position your pool in a way that maximizes natural shade from nearby structures or trees.
  • Umbrellas: A portable option that can easily be moved to provide shade wherever it’s needed.
  • Pergolas or Shade Structures: These stylish additions can provide lasting coverage and enhance the aesthetic of your backyard.
  • Shade Sails: These are attached to poles anchored in your yard or patio and can stretch across areas needing sun protection.
  • Shade Trees: While beautiful, shade trees require consideration of potential litter and root systems that may interfere with your pool’s structure. Always consult with a landscaper before planting near your pool.

If you’re planning to swim laps, tile lane markers are a great way to establish clear lanes and keep things organized. You could also add actual lane dividers or buoys to give it that true lap pool feel.

If you’d rather swim against the current, swim jets are a great option. They create a steady flow of water, letting you swim in place and get a great workout without needing a long pool.

Oh, the possibilities are endless! For the pool itself, think about adding spots where guests can hang out, like swim-up bars, spa areas, or even a spacious shelf step where people can relax. If you have kids or just want to add some extra fun to your backyard, a grotto slide with a waterfall cave and a bench could be a big hit.

For the area around the pool, make sure there’s plenty of deck space for everyone to spread out and stay safe. Additionally, misters are a great touch to keep things cool and help everyone beat the heat. It’s all about creating the perfect atmosphere for fun and relaxation, and Elite Pools can install all of it expertly.

Of course! While there are some predefined mosaics available, you can also get creative with custom designs. We’ve had clients add everything from sports team logos to animals or other stunning patterns at the bottom of their pools. If you can dream it, we can make it happen!

Choosing the right pool size for your backyard depends on several factors, like the size of your space, the number of people who will use it, and the kind of activities you’re hoping to enjoy. If you have a smaller yard, a compact pool might be perfect, offering just enough room for lounging and a refreshing dip. For larger yards, you can create a pool that’s perfect for family fun, swimming laps, or even adding extra features like a hot tub or waterfall.

When we come to your home for the initial consultation, we’ll take a closer look at your space and help you envision all the possibilities. Once we have an idea of what you’re looking for, we can provide you with a more detailed idea of design options, sizes, and features.

Pool covers aren’t necessary, but you’ll be thankful you invested in this addition. If you’re concerned about safety when the pool isn’t in use, a cover can act as an extra barrier—though it’s important to note it shouldn’t be the only safety measure you rely on. For those in areas with a lot of dirt or debris, a pool cover helps keep things clean and reduces the need for constant maintenance. Plus, if you’re using heaters or heat pumps for year-round swimming, a cover can help retain the heat and keep your pool comfortable longer.

At Elite Pools, our pool cover options range from the following:

  • Automatic Retractable Covers: Heavy-duty covers that can be easily retracted when not in use for convenience and durability.
  • Solar Bubble Covers: An inexpensive option that sits on the surface of the pool, helping to retain heat from the sun.

Absolutely! Adding a spa to your pool can elevate your backyard experience, offering a relaxing retreat right at home. However, it’s important to consider the available space in your year. You’ll need enough room for both the pool and the spa to complement each other without overcrowding the area.

Our virtual reality design services can help you visualize how a spa will fit into the space, guaranteeing that it enhances the overall layout of your backyard.

When it comes to placing your pool pump, functionality and accessibility are key. While it’s definitely possible to hide it with creative landscaping—screen walls, plants, or large waterfalls—it’s important to make sure that the placement doesn’t hinder its performance. Pool equipment is best positioned with easy access for maintenance while keeping in mind the aesthetics of your yard.

Keep in mind that the farther the pool pump is from the pool, the more expensive and less efficient the installation might be. A greater distance can affect the overall efficiency of the system, so it’s important to strike a balance between convenience, function, and design.

When it comes to pool sizes, there’s no need to base your design on an average, but 30 feet by 15 feet is common. However, your pool’s size should be tailored to your space, lifestyle, and how you plan to use it. With custom options available, we can make sure your custom pool fits seamlessly into your backyard while maximizing both function and style.

The time it takes to build your pool depends on many factors, including the complexity of your design and the time of year. Barring any interruption from Mother Nature, the average pool build takes 6 to 12 weeks from the completion of excavation.

At Elite Pools, we go above and beyond to accommodate your needs. Our construction crew typically works during daylight hours to make the most of the available time, but we are always respectful of any specific requests or neighborhood restrictions you may have.

If you have any time constraints or preferences, just let us know before construction begins, and we’ll adjust our schedule to keep things running smoothly and on track. Your comfort and convenience are always top priorities for us!

Since we build custom pools, there really isn’t a “standard.” For illustration purposes only, our classic pool is a sport or play pool up to 5 feet in depth, with a 75-foot perimeter, 350 sq. ft. surface area, and 300 sq. ft. or acrylic lace decking.

Our standard warranty covers everything for three years. After the first 24 months, there’s a nominal trip charge for the final 12 months, but all parts and labor remain fully covered. Beyond the initial three years, many of our products come with extended warranties on parts, giving you added peace of mind. Your dedicated project manager will go over all warranty details with you, ensuring you have a complete understanding and addressing any questions or concerns you may have.

Yes! You will have a dedicated project manager overseeing your entire project from start to finish. They’ll be your go-to person for any questions or updates, making sure things are running smoothly. Once your project kicks off, you’ll receive a test message introducing your project manager, along with a photo of them, so you’ll know exactly who to expect on-site.

Before construction begins, we’ll assess your landscape to determine the best way for the crew to access the building site. Since heavy machinery is used, we may need to temporarily remove or adjust items like fencing, pavers, or landscaping to make room. If there’s any potential for damage, you’ll be informed ahead of time. Certain stages, like plumbing, may require trenching, so your yard may not look pristine for a few days, but we’ll work quickly to keep things looking great as we go.

Absolutely! We provide a personalized orientation with one of our in-house technicians to walk you through everything you need to know. These sessions usually last around an hour, depending on the complexity of your pool, and come with detailed manuals for easy reference. Plus, if any questions arise after your orientation, our service coordinators are just a phone call away.
